Ingredients

What ingredients do you need to make the Breakfast Crepe?

Tortilla

Have you tried eating a tortilla before? It’s a round and thin unleavened flatbread that originated from Mexico and Central America.

Eat Wheat suggests using tortillas for burritos, wraps, tacos, quesadillas, pizzas, fajitas, and more! There are different kinds of tortillas such as corn tortillas, flour tortillas, and even beetroot tortillas.

You can fill the tortilla with your favorite food! I love using the tortilla for healthy filling and breakfast meals. How do you usually enjoy your tortillas?

Hot dogs

Add the hot dogs for a burst of meaty, smoky, and meaty flavors. Hot dogs also make great pairings with eggs and even cheese! These will surely make your kids and family excited for breakfast.

I suggest using chicken sausages or vegan hot dogs for healthier alternatives. Use your leftover sausages for Crispy Hot Dogs, Sausage Rolls, Bread Pizza, and even Egg Mayo Sandwich!

Eggs

When it comes to breakfast, eggs are certainly on top of the family favorites! These are easy to cook into different dishes. You can fry, boil, poach, air fryer, bake, and deep fry them!

Moreover, eggs are good for the health. According to WebMD, eggs can supply your body with complete protein. In fact, eggs are also great for weight loss, digestion, heart, eyes, and brain.

For more egg recipes, I suggest Fried Eggs, Egg and Yam Frittata, Fried Rice, Moi Moi, Pancakes, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, and Egg Omelet Toast!

Mozzarella cheese

Let’s not forget about the milky, creamy, and stringy quality of mozzarella cheese. It’s a curd cheese made from cow’s milk and produced in Italy.

The moist and soft texture of mozzarella cheese gives it a wonderful melted appearance. While it is usually used for Italian dishes, there is no reason not to use it for your breakfast meals!

You can make a Breakfast Sandwich, Chicken Pizza, Pizza Margherita, and Bread Pizza with more of your mozzarella cheese.

Butter

Take your tortilla to the next level by cooking in a bit of butter. You will need the butter to grease the pan for a beautiful and fragrant crust. The butter will also make the tortilla extra flaky and tasty.

Do you have all of these ingredients in your pantry? Great! Let’s get started and make this delicious breakfast recipe together!

Making tortillas

While tortillas are readily available in supermarkets, homemade tortillas are always healthier and safer to eat. You might be surprised that it’s quite easy to make homemade tortillas!

You just need about 2 cups of all-purpose flour, half a teaspoon of sea salt, ¾ cup water, and about 3 tablespoons of olive oil.

  1. First, combine the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Then, slowly add the water and oil.
  3. Mix them until it forms a dough.
  4. Knead the dough using your hands or a mixer for a few minutes on a floured surface.
  5. Allow the dough to rest for about 10 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into 8 with a dough cutter and roll each using a rolling pin.
  7. Finally, cook the tortillas on a skillet for 1 minute on each side.

Breakfast Crepe Variations

Can you make gluten-free tortillas? Yes, you can! Just use gluten-free flour to make the tortillas. There are also vegan and gluten-free tortillas you can buy from the grocery stores.

Meanwhile, there are also plant-based hot dogs that you can use as healthy alternatives. Don’t forget to check the label to ensure their quality and ingredients.
