Experience a frittata like never before when you cook it with yams and eggs!
Frittata is an Italian delicacy that’s similar to omelet but it is primarily made of eggs and other ingredients like vegetables, cheese, herbs, and now, yams.
Unlike the folded omelet, the frittata is like a flat and round cake. It can be the main course for breakfast, an appetizer, or even a filling snack on a busy day.

How to Make Yam and Egg Frittata
Just like other frittata recipes, the Yam and Egg Frittata is an easy and quick dish. Aside from eggs and frittata, it also has meat and vegetables to make each bite tastier!
Once you try this frittata recipe, you’ll be craving it every morning!
Ingredients
Here’s everything you need to make every bite of the Yam and Egg Frittata absolutely delicious:
Yam
Have you ever tried cooking your eggs with yams? You should definitely try it. The yam is a staple tuber vegetable in tropical areas like Africa and Asia.
It is known for its bark-like skin and starchy and sweet flesh inside. Once cooked, it becomes soft and tender, like a potato. It also tends to taste neutral, earthy, and starchy.
Enjoy the frittata more often by making them last longer with an effective yam storage hack. My favorite yam recipes include Yam Fritters, Yam Porridge, and Fried Yams!
Eggs
Of course, you cannot cook frittatas without eggs! The eggs will be the base ingredient that holds everything together. These also give the perfect level of moisture at every bite.
The natural flavor of eggs also makes the frittata an even tastier dish. It will surely taste so much better when you season it with the right herbs and spices.
Indeed, eggs are great for breakfast meals because of their filling and tasty quality. For more egg recipes, you can try Avocado Egg Sandwich, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, and Fried Eggs!
Chicken hot dogs
If you’re a meat lover, then use chicken hot dogs for a smokey, meaty, and savory flavor to the dish. It’s also a great option to add if you plan on serving this dish to kids.
You can also use meat alternatives to replace the chicken hot dogs. My kids’ favorite sausage recipes include Sausage Rolls, Bread Pizza, and Breakfast Omelets!
Tomatoes
Don’t forget to add one of the classic frittata ingredients: tomatoes. These add a sweet and tangy flavor to go with the neutral-tasting yams.
The tomatoes will surely give the yams an even better flavor, texture, and color. Use leftover tomatoes to make Pizza Sauce to pair with the frittata!
Mixed bell peppers
Your frittata recipe will certainly taste better with mixed bell peppers. The red and yellow bell peppers will add a sweet flavor while the green bell peppers add a touch of earthiness to balance the sweetness.
Do you love the flavor of bell peppers? You can use your leftovers to cook Leftover Fried Rice to go with the Yam and Egg Frittata for a complete meal!
Red onion
The frittata recipe will not be complete without an onion. I suggest using a red onion to add an appetizing pungent aroma. It will add flavor without adding too much moisture to the dish.
The onion certainly pairs well with the tomatoes for a balanced flavor. Red onions are also best used for Chicken Pizza and Tortilla Wrap!
Seasoning
Cook the best-tasting frittata with the best herbs and spices. I suggest using mixed herbs, chicken stock cubes, curry powder, and sea salt.
Indeed, it’s a special Yam and Egg Frittata that you cook whenever you want to enjoy good food!
