Tips

Reminders When Poaching Eggs

  • One of the best tips for making this dish is to fill your pan with shallow water. Then, cover it with up to 2 to 4 inches of water only, depending on how deep the pan is.
  • Moreover, don’t skip the vinegar. It can help in keeping the egg whites intact. Limit the vinegar to 1 to 2 tablespoons only.
  • Next, it also helps if you filter the egg with a sieve to remove loose whites that can float off as you poach it.
  • Also, pay attention to the cooking time. At four minutes, the yolk is likely to be runny, but if you can, let it cook for one more minute to let the yolk set.

  4. Check for doneness every 30 seconds but don’t cook longer than a minute and 30 seconds.
  5. Allow it to set for a minute before draining and extracting the egg.

  1. Pour the eggs into a muffin tray and season with your favorite spices.
