How to Make Chicken Pizza
Just like other pizza recipes, the Chicken Pizza is easy to cook, even from scratch. Once you know how to make the dough and the sauce, all you have to do is top it off with any flavor that you want.
Today, I will share with you all my secrets to smoky, crispy, and perfect Chicken Pizza!
Ingredients
Before anything else, let’s talk about what you’ll need to cook Chicken Pizza.
Chicken
Indeed, chicken is a healthy, delicious, and affordable meat option for your pizza.
The good thing about using chicken is that it’s quick to cook, easy to season, and naturally delicious. It doesn’t cost a lot but it gives an incredible quality to any dish. Sometimes, I use shreds or chunks of leftover Roasted Chicken, too.
It is surely going to give the dish a savory and smoky taste that pairs well with veggies. The chicken will also have a juicy and tender texture that melts in your mouth with the cheese.
You can even cook Crispy Chicken Wings, Spaghetti in Chicken Breast Sauce, and Chicken Pie to go with the pizza!
Plain flour
Every time you make dough, you will need plain flour to make the dough.
Since you are making pizza from scratch, using plain flour will form the base. It mixes all of the dough ingredients together to give the pizza the right flavor and texture from the inside out.
Bob’s Red Mill suggests using all-purpose flour, pastry flour, or gluten-free flour for the dough. I always have flour at home because I also use it to make Banana Bread, Coconut Egg Rolls, and Almond Chocolate Chip Cupcakes!
Dry yeast mixture
How can you get the crunchy and flaky crust? Use dry yeast!
Dry yeast is a powerful and effective leavening agent that you can use in so many pastry recipes. You just need to mix water, dry yeast, and sugar to allow the dough to rise and expand.
As the pizza cooks, the dry yeast mixture will give the pizza the perfect crust. I also use yeast for recipes that need a light and airy quality, such as Puff Puff, No-Oven Bread, and Donuts!
Mozzarella cheese
It won’t be a pizza recipe without some cheese, right?
You can never forget the classic pizza topping, mozzarella cheese. It has a beautiful melting effect that will make the pizza more appetizing. The creamy and decadent quality from the cheese makes the pizza so much tastier.
The mozzarella cheese has a milky and tangy flavor that blends well with the toppings. It’s my go-to cheese for other pizza recipes like Pizza Margherita and Bread Pizza but you can also use other types of cheese.

Pizza sauce
Even if used in only small amounts, pizza sauce always makes a big difference.
There are many pizza sauces you can use, but nothing beats the goodness of pizza sauce that you make at home. You can make it from tomato sauce or fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, pepper, and seasonings.
The pizza sauce will serve as a barrier between the dough and the toppings. It gives sweetness and acidity for a more balanced flavor. You can prepare a No-Cook Pizza Sauce or a Quick Pizza Sauce recipe for a more natural flavor!
Garlic-infused oil
You never know how much value garlic-infused oil can give to the dish.
By brushing your dough with this oil, you can give it a pungent flavor and aromatic quality. It will also keep the pizza moist inside yet crunchy and crisp on the outside. It’s certainly great for flavor, aroma, and texture.
According to Pizza Bien, the oil also allows the dough to absorb moisture for a crisp crust. You can also use other kinds of oil available to you. I just love how the garlic-infused oil tastes well with the pizza sauce!
Red onion
Whether raw or cooked, the red onion will make the Chicken Pizza so much tastier.
It has a mild flavor, but it has an excellent aroma that truly brings the pizza together. While the red onion is usually raw in salads or sandwiches, it will add a crunchy texture to the pizza too.
In fact, it is one of the most common pizza toppings ever. You will realize how delicious it tastes with the pizza sauce, chicken, and peppers. No wonder it’s one of the most commonly used pizza toppings!
Jalapeño peppers
Don’t be afraid of using jalapeño peppers for the pizza.
I suggest using green and red jalapeños for a diverse flavor. The green ones have a fresh and tangy taste, while the red ones have a spicy and sweet taste. These peppers will surely give the dish more crunch.
Just like red onions, the peppers will add a fantastic flavor and aroma to the pizza. It’s going to complement the chicken for a well-balanced flavor throughout the dish!
I can’t wait for you to try the Chicken Pizza. It is an easy recipe that you can cook in less than an hour – perfect for bonding with your loves ones over good food!

Tips
Pizza Dough
Making pizza dough
While there is store-bought pizza dough in groceries, I always prefer making it at home.
- Mix water, dry yeast, and sugar in a bowl.
- Set this aside to bloom.
- Mix plain or all-purpose flour with olive oil and salt.
- Stir in the yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough with a mixer or by hand.
- Let the dough rest in a lightly greased bowl.
- Cover it with cling film or aluminum foil.
- Allow it to double in size within an hour and a half.

Storing pizza dough
- Coat the pizza dough with oil before storing it in a plastic bag or container.
- Freeze it for up to three months, and once ready to use, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
- Allow the dough to rest at room temperature before molding.
Pizza Sauce
To make your Pizza Sauce, you will need tomatoes, red onions, olive oil, sea salt, smoked paprika, oregano, fresh basil, pepper, and sugar.
- Blend the tomatoes and red onion in a blender.
- Preheat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Saute the remaining red onion.
- Season it with herbs and spices for a minute.
- Then, pour the blended tomatoes and red onion.
- Cook the sauce for five minutes.
- Garnish it with basil if preferred.
To store, put the pizza sauce in a container and refrigerate it to last up to a week or in freezer bags. There’s even a No-Cook Pizza Sauce that you can try out! Whichever you choose will result in a delicious dish.
Garlic-Infused Olive Oil
- According to For The Love of Cooking, you can make garlic-infused oil by sauteeing about four cloves of garlic in ¾ cup of olive oil for about 30 minutes.
- Store it by pouring it into a container and refrigerating or freezing it. This can last at least one month.

Chicken Pizza Variations
The best thing about cooking pizza is that you can make any flavor you want with your favorite toppings and sauces!
For instance, you can replace mozzarella cheese with cheddar, parmesan, gouda, ricotta, or provolone cheese. If you don’t want to add cheese, then you can use pesto sauce, spinach, mushrooms, or even tofu.
Meanwhile, chicken pizza toppings can include pepperoni, bacon, olives, beef, ham, pork, pineapple, and other ingredients. However, remember not to include too many moist or watery ingredients to prevent it from becoming soggy.
On the other hand, chicken pizza sauce can be substituted with Spaghetti Sauce, barbecue sauce, pesto, garlic-infused oil, marinara, and other condiments. Just be sure that the sauce complements the toppings you want to use.

How to Serve Chicken Pizza
In just 30 minutes, your Chicken Pizza is ready to serve!
Chicken Pizza is best served whenever you plan on having your family and friends over. It is normally served in triangular slices, but you can also do it in squares for more servings.
For a smaller crowd, you can mold the dough into smaller sizes to give everyone their own mini-pizza. Another popular option is to roll the dough with the toppings to get Pizza Rolls.
You can enjoy it with:

- At room temperature: According to the United States Department of Agriculture, pizza is best eaten within two hours.
