Ingredients

What goes into the most delicious Chocolate Granola Bars?

Jumbo oats

Every time I make granola bars of any flavor, I always go for jumbo oats.

There are many whole-grain options you can use for granola, but in this recipe, I suggest using jumbo oats. These grains have a nutty and earthy flavor that will taste well with chocolates.

They can also give the granola bars a crunchy and crisp texture that gives you a fun experience. Aside from jumbo oats, you can also use rolled oats, quinoa, and more.

Health Benefits of oats

  • With the help of oats, you can take better care of your heart and gut.
  • WebMD found that oats are a good source of fiber to promote weight loss.
  • Oats are also one of the top foods to lower your blood pressure levels.
  • Healthline shared that oats can help the bad cholesterol in your body, too.
  • Eating oats can lower your risk of getting diabetes.

Whenever you make granola, try to use jumbo oats to see how delicious and healthy they are for you. I’ve used them for almost all of my granola recipes and they always gave me awesome results!

Milk chocolate

It won’t be a Chocolate Granola Bars recipe without milk chocolate.

Don’t be afraid of using milk chocolate for granola bars because it’s not always bad for your health. It will add a sweet and creamy flavor to a satisfying dish that satisfies your cravings and gets you one step closer to being fit.

Milk chocolate also makes the bars chewy and soft, especially when it melts into the mixture. It truly gives the granola a decadent quality that improves the overall flavor and texture of the granola bars.

Health Benefits of Chocolates

  • Eating chocolates has a positive effect on heart health.
  • According to Medical News Today, milk chocolate can increase cognitive abilities.
  • You can reduce inflammation in your body with chocolates in your diet.
  • Piedmont Healthcare mentioned that chocolates can boost your energy.
  • You’ll always be in a better mood when you eat chocolates.

As long as you eat chocolate in moderation, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. It’s not always bad for you, and in fact, you can use it to make your dishes healthy and tasty.

Honey

Why do you need honey to make Chocolate Granola Bars?

The honey serves as a sweetener and binder for the dish. Its thick and sticky texture makes it easier for you to mix and form the granola bars. Honey also has a caramel-like, fruity, and floral flavor that goes well with the chocolate.

Its unique texture makes the dish chewy, tender, and moist. Adding honey will also prevent the granola bars from drying even when you bake or store them. You’ll realize why they’re my go-to syrups for granola once you taste them.

Nuts

Add flare to your Chocolate Granola Bars with some nuts.

For my granola recipes, I always use cashews and peanuts. They have a nutty, sweet, and buttery taste that makes the chocolate and oats taste better. Cashews and peanuts also add to the crunchy and crisp texture of the granola.

While there are other nuts you can use, I especially suggest cashews and peanuts because they’re affordable and accessible. Don’t forget to use them for Cashew Butter and Peanut Butter, too!

Seasoning

Aside from the honey, you will also need spices to make the granola bars taste better. In this recipe, it’s just as simple as adding sea salt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

These spices are going to balance out the flavors of the dish. The granola bars will surely have the right mix of sweet, spicy, woody, and nutty flavors. Feel free to use other spices that you like!

Coconut oil

In every granola recipe, you should never forget about the oil.

Make the granola bars as nutty as you want with the help of coconut oil. It will also make everything easier to stir and form when you shape them. The Kitchn especially suggests adding fat to your granola recipes to get the right texture.

When it comes to Chocolate Granola Bars, you can never go wrong with these ingredients. Make every bite special by following this recipe!
