Here’s how I make Cranberry Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, combine cranberries, water, and sweetener (sugar, honey or maple syrup).
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes until cranberries burst.
  3. Mash slightly and strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  4. Stir in lemon juice (optional, for extra brightness)
  5. Then, set aside to cool.
  6. Store in a glass jar or bottle.
  7. Keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Finally, you have a perfect syrup for your health and recipes!

🫙 Want it thicker? Return the syrup to the heat and reheat for 5 more minutes.

  • Buy ones that feel firm and plump.
  • They should also have smooth and bright red skin. 

Storing cranberries 

  • Store fresh cranberries in the fridge for up to two months.
  • You can also freeze them for a year.

In place of honey, you can also use maple syrup or sugar to balance the tarty cranberries. Sometimes, I add water to make sure that the ingredients mix well. 

Other optional seasonings include orange juice or zest, lemon zest, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. To create a thicker syrup, let it simmer for longer and adjust the sweetness as desired.
