Ingredients

  • 1 Plantain (ripe and firm)
  • Cooking oil (enough to deep-fry)

Instructions

  • Peel the plantain with a knife.
  • Pour sunflower oil into a pot.
  • Allow the oil to heat up on medium-low heat
  • Then, Gently slice the plantain using a slicer into the hot oil.
  • Toss the chips in the oil with a skimmer.
  • Fry the plantains until golden brown and crisp. 
  • Transfer to a lined tray lined.
  • Leave them to cool for extra crunchiness!

  1. Drop the plantain slices directly into the preheated oil to avoid clumps.
  2. Allow them to cool at room temperature to add crispiness and crunchiness.
  3. Plantain chips are not recommended for babies.
  4. You can also manually slice the plantain using a knife or peeler to your preferred sizes and styles. Plantain chips can be made in the usual round, horizontal, or flat versions.
  5. The oil is at the right temperature when the plantain floats back to the surface of the oil.
  6. The best way to fry plantains is to put them directly into the heated oil immediately after slicing. Don’t gather them in a bowl anymore, as this can lead to clumped plantain chips.
