Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk powder (filled or full cream)
  • 5 cups water (hot)
  • ½ cup greek yogurt (starter culture)

Instructions

  • Add the milk powder to a bowl.
  • Pour in half of the boiled water to dissolve the milk.
  • Stir the mixture with a whisk.
  • Pour the remaining water.
  • Let it cool down for half an hour.
  • Then, add the starter culture.
  • Mix the contents with a spatula.
  • Pour the mixture into a container.
  • Cover, wrap it in plastic, and wrap it in cloth.
  • Leave it in a warm area for about ten hours.
  • After ten hours, transfer the yogurt into a bowl to whisk.
  • Once you're happy with the flavor, add other flavoring or coloring agents that you like.

Notes

  • The milk mixture should still be hot when you add the starter culture.
  • Let the mixture cool before you add the starter culture.
  • Maintain the hot temperature of the mixture in the container.
  • Leave the mixture for eight hours for a less sour yogurt.
  • For an extra thick yogurt, use equal amounts of water and milk powder.
  • The yogurt starter should have a live culture.
  • To add flavor, season it with sugar.
  • You can freeze the starter culture for future use.
  • The starter culture should be at room temperature before you use it for the yogurt.
