Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice (Asli Golden seller)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 3 cups water (enough to cover the rice for parboiling)

Instructions

  • Parboil the rice.
Pour the basmati rice into a pot of cold water.
Cover and leave to parboil on medium heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Rinse it.
Rinse the rice with warm water to get rid of excess starch.
Rewash the rice until most of the starch is gone.
  • Cook the basmati rice.
Season the rice with salt and pour it into the hot water.
Mix in the coconut oil and evenly distribute it to the rice.
Cover and leave it to steam, and cook on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
Check to see if the water has dried up and taste to determine if the rice is soft to your satisfaction.
Leave on low heat until you are satisfied with the texture.
