Ingredients

  • 2 green plantains
  • seasoning (salt, paprika, or chili) optional
  • oil (enough to deepfried)

Instructions

Prepare the green plantain

  • Peel the green plantain by cutting off the edges and the ridges and removing the skin.
  • Slice it into thin pieces using the V-Blade Slicer or a knife.
  • You can also do them in flat and long pieces.

Fry

  • Heat the oil over medium fire.
  • Fry the plantains until golden and crispy.
  • Toss them in the oil using a slotted turner for even browning.
  • Then, transfer the contents to a lined plate.

Season the chips

  • Season it with suya spice, salt, pepper, paprika, and more.
  • Sprinkle the seasoning using a sieve to distribute the particles evenly.
  • Resealable plastic bags and season them by shaking them.

  • Plantain chips can be made using ripe yellow ones or unripe green plantains.
  • You can also air fry or bake plantains, especially if you don’t want to use much oil.
  • Freeze the raw and sliced plantains and fry them directly from the freezer.
  • The chips can also be seasoned in a resealable bag by shaking spices with the plantains.
