  • Add the Elmlea Double to a glass bowl.
  • Use a hand mixer to whip the Elmlea Double on medium speed for four minutes or until it doubles in volume.
  • Add the condensed milk and vanilla extract (optional).
  • Sieve cocoa powder over the mixture using a fine mesh sieve.
  • Fold the mixture with a spatula until well combined.
  • Transfer the chocolate ice cream mixture to a freezer-safe ice cream container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Notes

  1. Properly chill your ice cream base before churning/whipping it to prevent ice crystals from forming.
  2. Some people wonder if they can use melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder in their chocolate ice cream recipe. While melted chocolate can be used as a substitute for cocoa powder, the flavor and texture of the ice cream may differ slightly.
