Healthy Sorrel Popsicle (VIDEO)
Get healthy and refreshed by snacking on these sorrel-flavored popsicles!
- 1 cup hibiscus flower (sorrel)
- 1 pineapple
- 1 orange
- 100 g ginger
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 4 cups water
Prepare the zobo leaves.
Rinse the sorrel flowers under running water, then put them in a pot.
Boil these for about 15 minutes with chopped ginger for about 15 minutes over medium fire.
Make the sorrel drink.
Toss in the pineapple slices and the orange juice. As an optional step, zest the orange peel with a grater or zester. Boil the contents for 10 minutes.
Let the drink steep for at least two hours before mashing the solid ingredients. Then, filter the contents with a fine-mesh sieve.
Sweeten it with maple syrup for sweetness.
Freeze the popsicles.
Pour the contents into popsicle molds and let them freeze for several hours.
When taking the popsicles out of the mold, it is best to submerge the molds in water for 5-10 seconds.
- Make the juice consistency thicker to achieve a creamy instead of an icy popsicle.
- As popsicle mold alternatives, use muffin trays, cups, ice cube trays, and other similar materials.
- Keep them in a bowl of ice to serve at room temperature.
