Equipment

Ingredients

  • water
  • lemons (lemon juice)

Instructions

  • Prepare the lemon.
Slice the lemon in half and squeeze out the juices into the kettle.
  • Clean the outside of the kettle.
Rub the lemon on the outer part of the kettle to remove signs of limescale residue. Then, slice the lemon into pieces.
  • Boil the lemon slices.
Put the slices into the kettle and add water about halfway. Turn the kettle on and let it boil. Carefully shake the contents of the kettle. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.
Add some water but do not fill it to the brim. The water should be just enough to cover the limescale and up to half of the kettle.
Turn the kettle on and allow it to boil. Give it a slight shake. Allow it to cool down for a few minutes.
  • Scrub the kettle.
Use a sponge to rub the outside and inside of the kettle. Then, drain the water and lemons. Once contented, wipe it with cloth or a kitchen towel. Let it dry before using for safety purposes.

Notes

As an alternative to this method, you can also use vinegar, citric acid, and other kettle cleaning products. Clean the kettle about once in four to eight weeks.
